Our Commitment to the American People
The American People’s Party is committed to building a political movement that places the interests of ordinary Americans ahead of corporate influence and partisan power.
We recognize that meaningful change requires cooperation among individuals and organizations that share our fundamental principles.
We are prepared to work with progressive organizations, independent movements, labor organizations, and political groups whose objectives align with our platform.
Our commitment, however, is to the American people—not to the political establishment.
1. Medicare for All — Universal Healthcare
Healthcare is a fundamental human right, not a privilege determined by income or employment.
The American People’s Party supports a comprehensive, publicly funded Medicare for All system that guarantees healthcare coverage to every American.
Our goal is to eliminate financial barriers to medical care while ensuring access to quality healthcare, including preventive services, hospitalization, prescription medications, mental healthcare, dental care, and vision care.
2. Environmental Protection and the Green New Deal
Protecting our environment is essential to the health, prosperity, and security of future generations.
We support the Green New Deal and a national commitment to addressing climate change through investments in renewable energy, modern infrastructure, environmental restoration, and sustainable economic development.
The transition to a cleaner economy must also create good-paying jobs and protect workers and communities affected by economic changes.
3. National Career Opportunity Program
Every American who wants to work deserves an opportunity to develop the skills necessary for meaningful, productive employment.
We support establishing a National Career Opportunity Program that provides comprehensive career assessment, vocational education, technical training, apprenticeships, and employment placement assistance.
This program would help individuals identify their abilities and interests and connect them with careers that offer long-term economic stability.
4. Affordable Housing and Ending Homelessness
Safe, affordable housing is a basic human necessity.
We support a comprehensive national housing initiative that expands affordable housing, assists first-time homebuyers, protects renters, and addresses the underlying causes of homelessness.
Our objective is to ensure that every American has access to safe and stable housing.
5. Protecting and Strengthening Social Security and Medicare
Social Security and Medicare represent fundamental commitments to America’s seniors and working families.
We oppose efforts to privatize or reduce these essential programs.
We support strengthening their long-term financial stability while protecting benefits and ensuring that future generations receive the security they have earned.
6. Fair Wages and Economic Security
Every American working full-time should earn enough to support themselves and their family.
We support establishing a living wage based on the actual cost of living in each geographic area.
Rather than allowing individual states to determine these standards, an independent national agency would establish location-specific living wages using objective economic data.
These wage standards would be reviewed and adjusted annually to reflect changes in living costs.
7. Workers’ Rights and Collective Bargaining
Workers deserve fair treatment, safe workplaces, and the freedom to organize.
We support strengthening labor protections, protecting collective bargaining rights, and ensuring that employees can organize without intimidation or retaliation.
We support repealing so-called right-to-work laws, which undermine organized labor and weaken workers’ bargaining power.
A strong labor movement is essential to a fair and prosperous economy.
8. Progressive Taxation and Economic Fairness
Our tax system should reflect the principle that those who benefit most from our economy should contribute their fair share to maintaining it.
We support a progressive tax structure that reduces unnecessary burdens on working families while ensuring wealthy individuals and large corporations pay their fair share.
Tax policy should promote economic opportunity, discourage exploitation, and provide the resources necessary to maintain essential public services.
9. Campaign Finance Reform
Our democracy should not be controlled by wealthy donors, corporations, or special-interest organizations.
We support comprehensive campaign finance reform designed to reduce the influence of money in politics.
Our objectives include greater transparency in political contributions, stronger accountability, and measures that give ordinary Americans a more meaningful voice in elections.
10. Electoral Reform and the National Popular Vote
The American People’s Party believes that every citizen’s vote should carry equal weight in presidential elections.
We support replacing the Electoral College with a system in which the president is elected by the national popular vote.
We also support reforms that expand voter participation, protect voting rights, and ensure that elections are fair, transparent, and accessible.
Our democratic institutions must reflect the will of the people.
11. Supreme Court Reform
The Supreme Court must remain an independent institution capable of fairly interpreting the Constitution and protecting the rights of all Americans.
We support expanding the United States Supreme Court from nine justices to thirteen, reflecting the number of federal judicial circuits.
This reform would modernize the Court’s structure and provide broader judicial representation.
Judicial independence, constitutional accountability, and public confidence in the Court must remain essential principles.
We believe America can become a country where opportunity is available to everyone, economic security is achievable for every family, and government truly represents the people it serves.
